South West Metro Pirates are now offering a 4 week skills development program that will focus on some core competencies commencing Saturday 2nd March from 3:30-4:45pm. We understand that the trial process could have been a daunting process, for some…Especially given the large number of athletes that trialled for a team.

Therefore, the association would like to offer a 4 week skills program that focuses on the very things they are looking for in our Rep program. We believe that this program will offer skill development and more conceptual strategies around playing Representative basketball. Also, we hope that this 4 week training environment will have success while fostering some confidence in the below areas. This program is for the non-Representative Program.

Offensive Staples:

• Attack Space – With ball and off ball
• Finish your cut- cut hard
• Dribble with Purpose – No over dribbling, get somewhere with the dribble.
• Help somebody – Movement off ball
• Catch & See- Look up every time before putting the ball on the floor

Defensive Staples

• Defending the ball – don’t get bet first 2 dribbles
• Communication/ Trust
• Toughness- Multiple effort plays
• Position - Stance
• Anticipation – knowing what may happen next
• Awareness – Where your needed to be & go
